Full Truck Load (FTL)
FTL, which stands for “Full Truckload,” refers to a type of shipping in which the entire space of a truck is reserved to carry a single load. In other words, when a load of freight is large enough to fill the entire truck, it is considered an FTL load.
FTL load features include:
- Occupation of the entire truck space by a single load.
- Greater delivery speed, since there are no intermediate stops to load or unload other loads.
Partial Load (LTL)
LTL, which stands for “Less Than Truckload,” refers to a type of shipping in which multiple loads of goods from different customers in a single truck. In this case, the loads of different customers occupy only a part of the space available in the truck, allowing the use of the vehicle to be optimised for distribution of goods.
LTL cargo features include:
- Different loads from different customers are consolidated into a single truck.
- It may take a little longer to deliver, as the truck must make stops to load and unload various loads along the route.
